What we do...

The EDF Energy Trust helps customers of EDF Energy who are struggling with their gas and/or electricity debts by means of an award or grant to clear those debts. The aim of the Trust is to give customers a fresh start and enable them to keep up to date with current bills.

The Trust also offers help to EDF Energy customers or people living in households supplied by EDF Energy (but who are not account holders themselves) via Further Assistance Payments - grants to clear other essential household debts or costs.

In addition, the Trust operates an Organisational Grant Programme offering grants to money/debt advice organisations to increase money advice / debt prevention services available in communities, as well as signposting customers to energy efficiency advice and practical support.

The Trust has been operating since October 2003 and has already been able to make over 12,500 awards within their individual and families grant programme amounting to over £6.2 million. The Organisational Grant Programme has also made over 60 awards to agencies totalling over £1.7 million.

The Trustees set the policy, and control and monitor the Trust's activities but have entered into an agreement for the administration of the charity with Charis Grants Ltd, a company with extensive grant management experience.
